My philosophy is based on the premise and strong belief that early childhood education is necessary for children to become critical thinkers and to make informed decisions. It is especially important for young children since their minds are open, and they view the world with innocence and receptiveness.
Additionally, the childcare setting plays a vital role in creating a greater cultural understanding and allows for the exploration of different world cultures while confined within the walls of a classroom.
I decided to become a teacher at a young age and the desire to make a difference in children's lives has never left me since that time. This is one of the many reasons that I love teaching children, because I know that making a difference in this developmental period can lead to decisions that will affect them for the rest of their lives. I get great satisfaction from helping students acquire new skills and self-confidence, and one of the strategies I use to accomplish this is by using positive reinforcement. The strategies I use are encouraging appropriate behavior, increasing self-esteem: Creating a positive moment, Establishing positive relationships, offer praise, make phone calls and send notes home and award special privileges.
I believe as an Early Childhood Educator that every child has the right to learn at their own pace and to become independent. The curriculum must be developmentally appropriate for each child based on the interests of the children in the program and offers them a chance to utelize new learned skills.
My role as an Early Childhood Education is to help the children learn in ways that best suit them and that they can still have fun and learn at the same time. I strongly believe that play is a very important aspect of children's everyday life and I want my classroom to reflect an environment that the children are happy to come to everyday and that makes the children feel safe comfortable and free to express themselves.
I would like my program to reflect the cultural diversity of the families and the community. So that everyone feels welcome in the classroom. It should be a place they feel they can safely share information. Attachment is very important to enhance the proper growth and development of each child and will allow them to feel safe, valued, capable and competent. They will be given the opportunity and freedom to explore an environment that meets all their needs and allows them to express themselves.
